Notes: Smaller than plain Great Bowerbird, richer colours than Spotted Bowerbird (once lumped).
Brown w. reddish or buff spots over throat, neck, back, head & wings. Pink erectile crest on the
nape. Tail brown, undersides buff. Female similar but more spotted on throat. Ssp carteri smaller
than nominate guttata, w. richer plumage, nape more densely spotted w. chestnut, crown finely
spotted. Loud hisses & rasping squawks. The bower is decorated w. green & white objects.
