Sharp-tailed Sandpiper
but significantly larger. Ruff has relatively smaller head, indistinct
lores ending in a dark spot before the eye, brighter yellow legs, no
rufous cap. In flight, the broad white sides to the tail feathers converge
as compared to a Sharpie which has a dark centred rump & tail.
Female smaller than male. Rare annual visitor to Aust., mainly to
freshwater wetlands.
