ear-coverts; iridescent
silvery-blue crown, black throat & breast. Male non-breeding:
like female but black lores. Female:
greyish brown overall, w. paler underparts; black bill,
rufous lores, no eye-ring. Juvenile: like
female except yellow gape. Closely related to
Purple-backed Fairywren &
Blue-breasted Fairywren.
Voice: strident
introductory notes before rippling trill. Forages on ground.
