Notes: Small. Short black bill & legs (cf larger Sanderling which has no rear toe & longer bill).
Non-breeding: grey above w. fine dark streaks; whitish below; pale supercilium. Breeding: from
Mar on; reddish on breast, face & throat — cf Little Stint which then has a white throat & bolder
upperparts colours. Juvenile: darker above w. browner cap. Spring migrant from Siberia. Common.
