Notes: Small w. short tail, long bill; bright red hood w. black lores on male. Upper tail coverts
& rump red. Female: red tinted forehead & chin; no red behind eye. Cf Scarlet Honeyeater (only
slight overlap in range); songs differ markedly; Scarlet female at best has faint red wash on
forehead, throat. Active. In mangroves, paperbark swamps, nearby lowland tropical forest.
