Notes: Olive brown above, paler below, w. grey crown & dark grey cheek patch edged in yellow
tuft; a thin purple line separates throat from ear coverts; entirely black bill. Cf Yellow-tufted
Honeyeater which co-exists in east of range. Young birds have yellowish, not purple, gape.
Calls include loud squeaks & a rattling trill. Inhabits the mallee scrubs of southern Aus.
