Notes: Pale, tall, long-necked duck, w. prominent long lanceolate
off-white plumes edged in black
along the flanks. Bill is mottled pink & grey;
legs & feet pink. Cf Wandering
Whistling-Duck w.
dark crown, black bill. In flight note lighter underparts &
underwing; uppertail coverts form a
'dirty' V shape. At night they fly out from
daytime camps near suitable water, often quite long
distances, to feed on grasslands.
In breeding season leaves the water & nests on grassy plains.
