Notes: Striking medium-sized black & white honeyeater, w. staring pale eye, elongated white
bristles on throat, bright yellow panel in folded wing. Cf White-cheeked Honeyeater. Ssp longi-
rostris has longer bill, much smaller & narrower malar plume than nominate novaehollandiae.
Ssps canescens, caudatus male larger than nominate; female longer-tailed, longer white malar
plume, sparser white beard. Very active. In coastal heath, heathy forests & gardens.
