whitish or creamy-buff scalloping on fore- head, grey-brown tail w. broad
blackish subterminal band; off-white below, warmer buff on rear flanks, &
w. heavily streaked breast; iris dark red. Similar
Brown Thornbill has brown upperparts. Ssp whitlocki somewhat paler.
cinerascens plumage paler than others. albiventris uppertail-coverts
more rufous. Common in dry acacia, eucalypt woodlands. In SW WA also wetter coastal
habitats.
