Unicup Nature Reserve, SW WA IMG_9327 20181024 - apicalis creamy-buff scalloping on forehead, heavily streaked breast,
obvious rufous-brown rump patch, tail cocked.

Notes: Nominate ssp apicalis is grey-brown above, w. whitish or creamy-buff scalloping on fore-
head, grey-brown tail w. broad blackish subterminal band; off-white below, warmer buff on rear
flanks, & w. heavily streaked breast; iris dark red. Similar Brown Thornbill has brown upperparts.
Ssp whitlocki somewhat paler. cinerascens plumage paler than others. albiventris uppertail-coverts
more rufous. Common in dry acacia, eucalypt woodlands. In SW WA also wetter coastal habitats.
