Notes: Plain coloured, dumpy w. long thin forward-curving crest,
short wedge-shaped bill. Very similar to
Chiming Wedgebill but songs differ markedly. More contrast crown to crest. Longer
broad white tips to outer tail feathers. Male gives a squeaky three-note song; female
responds with a loud chir-up. Very wary. Sedentary. In tall scrub of Acacia,
canegrass; often along watercourses.
