Notes: Large w. heavy bill. Adult has brilliant blue bare patch around yellow or cream iris;
Ssp griseigularis is significantly smaller than nominate cyanotis but similar in plumage, but pink-
buff patch on underwing slightly larger. Cf White-quilled Honeyeater (IOC ssp of herein) which is
similar in size & plumage to cyanotis, except underwing patch white & larger; bill longer; iris
orange-yellow. Sedentary in noisy flocks. In S mostly in open grassy eucalypt forests. Varies in N.
