Notes: Marine only. Pied w. bare dark facial skin, no crest (cf Little Pied Cormorant which has
relatively longer tail, more white on face, yellow bill). Black cap extends down over eyes & w. the
black facial skin, forms a zig-zag pattern. Breeding: iris bright blue-green, nape finely streaked
white. Non-breeding: less glossy blacks. Juvenile: dark browns above, grey iris, upper breast &
ear coverts smudged brown. At high-energy coastal sites. It uses pursuit-diving to capture fish.
