Notes: Large thrush w. long bill, small head. Similar to
Russet-tailed Thrush but
single wing bar
made from narrow buff tips, bold brown underpart scalloping.
Ssp cuneata longer-billed, shorter-
tailed, slightly darker than
nominate, w. richer brown upperparts, more extensive cinnamon wash
on
underparts. Ssp halmaturina is like nominate but more greyish above, weaker
cinnamon wash
on breast. Distinctive stop-start foraging in moist forests
from coast to sub-alps.
Range from Morcombe©(modified): Ssp lunulata in N of range usually >500m asl.
