Notes: Small. Breeding: blackish head, dark brown upperparts, chestnut stripe on side
of neck, bright yellow eye, yellow patch of bare skin between eye and lower mandible.
Non-breeding plumage: much paler, w. the dark cap not extending below the eye,
cf Hoary-headed Grebe. Typically on freshwater ponds and lakes, feeding on fish.
