salmon underwing. Juvenile brown
mask, pale shaft-streaks on mantle, paler below, yellow
throat. Ssp
chelidonia differs from nominate melanops in having distinct rufous
tinge on mantle
& upper back. Voice: long, clear whistle followed by a
drawn-out piping. Specialist low-level
nectar eater in coastal heathlands.
Nomadic.
