 Notes: Sub-species howei: small, long-tailed w. black moustache, rufous-brown upperparts
boldly streaked white; white throat, buff underparts. Female obvious rufous patch at front of
flanks. In mallee woodland & dunes w. spinifex clumps, where it scurries around on the ground
& low branches. Nominate striatus has distinctly narrower white striations, is critically
endangered & occurs near Yathong, S of Cobar, central NSW.
