dark tab in armpit. Adult has yellow
tip to massive bill, white cap to
light grey head. NOT shy. Two ssp: cauta breeds around Tas, when
has yellow at base of bill; less common steadi breeds NZ sub-Antarctic
Isls (when no yellow on
base of bill). Common SE Aust inshore &
offshore waters to continental slope.
