Notes: Widespread. Nominate rufiventris male: black mask thru eye & ear-coverts extends down
sides to breastband. Female: entire underparts w. dark streaks. Ssp pallida & falcata male black
mask just dark grey lores & ear-coverts, lacks black eyestripe; rufous (not grey) wing notch.
Female has no black; fine streaks on underparts, but ssp pallida female lacks streaks on belly &
flanks. Adult bill develops pale base in non-breeding season. Inhabits drier woodland & shrubland.
