Notes: Long black legs, fine short bill. No breast band. White underparts. Short white supecilium.
Adult male: rufous crown & hindneck; often brown patch on cap. Narrow black loral stripe. Small
neat dark tabs on sides of breast. Adult female: duller colours. loral stripe broadens below eye.
Juvenile: varying buffy collar, ear coverts. Prefers moist or dry ground; seldom wades.
Beach nester.
