Notes: Large butcherbird. Long grey bill w. a dark hooked tip. Entirely dark hood and bib.
Nominate ssp nigrogularis has narrower white hindcollar than ssp picatus, which has broader
rump patch, more white at tail-tip. Juvenile: patterned dark brown, no pale hindcollar, buff tips
to wing coverts. Song: beautiful whistles, warbles, mimicry. Common, widespread in drier
woodlands, farmlands w. wooded patches.
