Notes: Males are boldly patterned w. a black head, white throat, & black collar, w. bright yellow
underparts, olive upperparts, & a grey tail broadly tipped black. Female plain grey above, paler
grey below, w. buffy belly. See also Golden Whistler (Eastern). Male occidentalis paler grey upper-
tail, female lower belly darker buff than ssp fuliginosa. Immature: rufous in wings. Calls include
a loud piercing whistle w. a whip-like ending. Usually in wet & dry woodlands w. dense understory.
