sandy-brown, blue-grey below.
Primaries white-tipped. Female: much duller, crown
light brown (not black), sides of head
& foreneck mottled brown & black,
or grey & black;. Each evening they fly to near water &
walk in. May drop
directly into water & drink. Feeds on the seeds of grasses, herbs & shrubs.
Nomadic. On open grassland plains, clumped grasses & small shrubs w. open spaces.
