Notes: Small waterside kingfisher. Brilliant blue upperparts, rufous underparts. Long black bill
tipped white; rufous loral spot; white neck blaze; orange legs, black toenails. Juvenile duller,
larger white tip to bill. Ssp ruficollaris slightly smaller, richer colours; shorter wing & tail, longer
bill than nominate azureus. Ssp diemenensis larger, crown & rump darker, more violet-blue.
