Notes: Black-&-white fantail w. fine bill & long legs. Black throat & upper breast, white below,
w. narrow white supercilium. Worn plumage may show brownish wing edges. Juvenile has super-
cilium tinged buff, black parts of plumage washed brownish, buff-tipped wing coverts. Ssp picata
smaller. Ssp melaleuca larger w. massive bill. Inhabits parks, farms, & grasslands; often perches
prominently, flicking tail from side to side & giving a pleasing “chitit-chitit-chitit” call.
