Notes: Nominate ssp leucotis largest; olive w. grey crown, black face & bib; large white patch on
side of neck behind eye - in forests E of Great Divide. Ssp novaenorciae slightly smaller, duller - in
mallee & semi-arid eucalypt woodlands of SW WA. Ssp depauperata palest, dullest - interior
(mallee) SE Aust. Ssp schoddei brightly coloured - SC Aust & Eyre peninsula. SSp thomasi darker,
greyer - in mallee & forests on Kangaroo Island. Mainly feeds on insects.
