Notes: Medium-sized mostly dull olive terrestrial bird w. long tail & short pointed crest. White sub-
moustachial stripe borders black chin & throat. Ssp oberon (in mallee heaths) has longer wing &
tail, pronounced black moustachial stripe, than nominate nigrogularis. Ssp leucogaster has pale
tail tips. Ssp lashmari is darker w. broader subterminal tailband. Call like "creaky cartwheel" in
west, antiphonal duet in east. Very secretive. Pairs feed in leaf, twig debris in dense heathy scrub.
