Notes: Glossy black (w. green sheen) bird of paradise w. red eye, long rounded tail; shaggy
plumes on back of neck; bill and legs blackish to black. Female slightly smaller, iris more orange.
Very loud trumpeting display calls, but otherwise quiet. Of the 10 ssp only gouldii occurs in Aust.
Forages in canopy, mostly for fruits, especially figs. In lowland forests.
