Notes: Large, powerful legs, long tail. Grey-brown w. reddish outer wing. Male: spectacular long
tail — main “lyre” feathers bold barring, the others are plain, thin & wispy. Juveniles & females
lack the longer tail feathers. Powerful song w. superb mimicry. Cf Albert’s Lyrebird. Ssp edwardi
lighter & greyer than nominate novaehollandiae, lyrates slightly less curved; victoriae head, neck
& mantle darker, wings slightly darker. Forages on ground in rainforest & wet sclerophyll habitats.
