Notes: Tiny, colourful, pattern of spots, short square-cut tail
& short deep bill. Male nominate ssp punctatus has black crown w.
bright white spots, white supercilium, bright yellow throat & breast;
upperparts w. coarse buff spots, rump orange-rufous. Female duller, w. creamy spots
on greyer crown, throat less intense yellow. Ssp millitaris similar, but
spots on upperparts paler. xanthopyge rump & most of
uppertail-coverts (orange-)yellow, underparts paler than nominate.
