Notes: Large, w. top-heavy hunched appearance. Dark sooty-grey w. fine white spots; massive
feet & claws, fully feathered. Female larger than male. Contact call a long shrill, descending wail:
"falling bomb"; also insect-like squeaks & trills. Lesser Sooty Owl is substantially smaller. In tall
wet eucalypt forest & temperate rainforest, roosting in a hollow tree, cave or rock overhang.
