Notes: Black mask bordered below by pale yellow line ending in bright yellow plumes below ear;
streaks on body heavy, dense on breast, flanks. Ssp sonorus smaller than nominate virescens w.
longer bill, less densely streaked below; forresti is smaller than sonorus, w. short bill, much
paler above & below, dull creamy chin & throat lacking streaking; cooperi is similar to nominate,
but w. slightly less dense and more diffuse streaking below. Widespread in open shrubland.
