Notes: Was Lesser Sand Plover. Slightly smaller, more hunched,
shorter slender stubby bill, generally darker legs than
Greater Sand Plover. Usually smudgy grey flecks on flanks. In breeding, white
forehead; male: broader, darker rufous breast-band, spreading down sides onto
foreflanks. Adult breeding female: duller, little black on face, buff wash to
