Notes: Swift flight, long black tail. Male is generally yellows; its back colorful shades of green;
bright yellow shoulder patch w. flash of red; bill red. Female duller, generally much greener,
underwing coverts lime green rather than bright yellow. Juvenile washed olive; paler bill; green
uppertail. Ssp monarchoides less olive head & breast than nominate anthopeplus, & is in floodplain
woodlands, mainly river gums. Ssp anthopeplus in agricultural lands w. scattered trees.
