Notes: Domestic strains worldwide. Feral birds resembling ancient type survive on tropical islands,
reverting to phenotype. Male: red wattles & serrated comb; long central tail feathers. Female:
small comb, greyish-brown overall; up-cocked tail. Features: legs (slender & dark, not thick &
yellow), comb (small & simple, not large & elaborate), hackle colour (bright orange), spurs
(relatively small & short), & collar colour (black in males or brown in females)
