Notes: Almost all-white plumage w. long red tail streamers, a black mask & red bill, dark brown
iris, black shafts to primaries. Larger than White-tailed Tropicbird. Juvenile: different wing pattern
& dark grey bill, cf WtT. Ssp westralis colours brighter than nominate. Ssp roseotinctus larger
overall size, more robust bill & prominent pinkish tinge to (under) plumage. Often high above sea
surface. Eats fish — mainly flying-fish & squid, caught by plunge-diving into the ocean.
