Notes: Gaudy colours: crimson cap, lime-green face & throat, purple-blue breast & abdomen,
red undertail-coverts. Long hooked upper mandible used for extracting seeds from large seed
capsules of eucalypts, especially Marri. Pale underwing bars. Female colours duller. Juvenile
lacks red cap, dull brown-mauve breast, yellow in red undertail-coverts. Voice: grating, like
rosella. In most habitats in range.
