Notes: Small duck w. huge square-tipped shovel-shaped grey bill & strongly barred
brown flanks. A small pink patch behind the eye. Juvenile paler, grey-brown barring,
pink often absent. Typically feeds by swimming in tight circles, concentrating food
in a water gyre. Widely distributed inland Aust waterbird. Highly nomadic.
