Notes: Small tropical heron w. blackish upperparts & wings; white neck; yellow eye, bill & legs.
Adult: glossy black cap & nape plumes; brownish-black breast & belly. Non-breeding: short nape
plumes. Juvenile: usually white head, no nape plumes, but some have brownish cap; breast &
belly white. Feeds on insects & aquatic animals alone or in groups of up to a thousand individuals.
