Notes: Dull-brown, medium sized, terrestrial, stout black bill. Broad white stripe along the edge of
the breast. Small erective crest raised when alert. Takes flight with a loud clatter of wings.
Nominate ssp smithii red bare facial skin. Ssp blaauwi yellow facial skin. The facial skin is outlined
by lines of black and white feathers that differ between the ssp. Compare Squatter Pigeon.
