Notes: Huge dark grey bill, red facial skin, black body & wings, long back-swept shaggy erectile
crest covers forehead & crown. The distinctive red cheek patch changes colour when the bird is
alarmed or excited. Female: smaller w. smaller facial patch, shorter bill. Juvenile: paler facial
patch, undersides yellow scalloping, horn colouring on bill <18mo. In rainforests & woodlands
of New Guinea & Cape York Peninsula. Sedentary. Beach almonds a favourite food.
