Notes: Broad red bill w. glossy dark blue-green plumage (appears black in poor light).
Broad silvery white patch on base of primaries (thus named (silver) dollar bird).
Juvenile: duller, no bright blue gloss on the throat; bill and feet are brownish.
Migratory. Ssp pacificus breeds in N & E Aust. Sep–Apr. Asian ssp abundus darker
head; vagrant to Christmas & Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
