Notes: Broad rufous crown w. narrow black median stripe, rest of head black, as is throat; green
& black wings; dull yellow underparts, black belly patch & a scarlet patch under the tail; a bright
blue shoulder patch. Voice: loud throaty whistle 'walk-to-work'. Nominate ssp versicolor largest,
smallest is ssp simillima, which is brighter green above, deeper yellow-brown below & winters in
PNG. In rainforest & maybe adjacent sclerophyll forest; from coast to ~1500 m for breeding.
