Notes: Orange iris, long barred forehead tuft extending well
beyond bill-tip, tail graduated &
proportionately longer than
Tawny Frogmouth. Ssp marmoratus smallish,
slender; ssp plumiferus
medium-sized. Male underparts usually clearly
marbled by creamy blotches; female usually more
rufous-tinged, underparts weaker
marbling not extending to throat. A call is a descending, turkey-
like gobble,
followed by a loud snap of the bill. In pristine rainforests, roosting high in canopy.
