Notes: Dabbling duck. Smaller than but very like
female Chestnut Teal w. whiter
chin & throat. The pale feathers on the face supposedly extent
upward to above the eyeline (cf Chestnut Teal). Female a
little smaller than male. Male lacks eclipse plumage. Juvenile paler than
female, especially on head & neck. Highly adaptable to all types
of wetlands, w. shallow, fresh, brackish or saline waters. Mostly
sedentary. Feeds by dabbling and upending to reach aquatic food.
