sandy-brown, blue-grey below.
Primaries white-tipped. Female: duller, browner. Each evening they fly to near water & walk in.
May drop directly into water & drink. Feeds on the seeds of grasses, herbs & shrubs. Nomadic;
frequents the arid plains of the continent where open grassland plains, clumped grasses & small
shrubs w. open spaces are found.
