Notes: Black head & triangular erectile crest; tail long,
graduated. Broad white patch on side of neck; iris brown. Antiphonal duet
between members of a pair: male gives a chuk-chuk followed by a
prolonged rising whistle terminated in a loud whip-crack; female immediately
follows with chew-chew or choo-ee. Juvenile has slight crest,
is dull olive-brown. Ssp lateralis brighter upperparts, shorter tail
& wings than nominate olivaceus. Feeds on ground of dense wet forests.
