Notes: Upright, plumpish, large head. Breeding: two distinct breast bands.
Non-breeding: double tabs on sides of breast; buff wash to pale areas of face
& nape in fresh plumage. On tidal flats, open saltmarsh, freshwater wetlands.
Winter (mid Feb – late Aug) visitor from NZ, where breeds in gravelly & sandy river beds.
