Notes: Similar to Chestnut Quail-thrush, with broad band of intense chestnut across lower back.
Broad white eyebrow & malar stripes. Male black (female grey) chin, throat, upper breast, flanks.
In nominate ssp clarum the chestnut extends to saddle & rump but for ssp fordianum it scarcely
reaches the lower mantle. Substantial intergrade zone between ssps. In arid shrublands west
of Flinders Ranges.
