Notes: Larger, dark brown tern, not blackish as for Black Noddy; stouter, shorter bill, white cap,
black lores. Narrow, incomplete white eye-ring wraps round underside of eye. Pale brown bar
across inner upperwing. White limited to the forehead on immature, variably suffused w. grey-
brown. TYpically nests on ground or in low bushes. Widespread in tropical offshore waters,
rarely seen from mainland.
