Notes: Dark warm brown above, whitish below,
with distinct pale supercilium, chestnut rump &
upper-
& under-tail coverts, inconspicuous small white patch at the
base of primaries, fine dark
chest streaking, long, cocked
tail. Cf Shy Heathwren,
which has an obvious white wing spot, more
black in wing,
darker legs, different call. Ssps differ in plumage tone: parkeri
is not so dark as
nominate pyrrhopygia; pedleri is
palest. Forages on or near ground in dense heath & shrubland.
